Frequently asked questions
Why does MailTrail need Gmail permission?▼
MailTrail sends the A/B test variants you create through your own Gmail account using the official Gmail API. We only request gmail.send and userinfo.email. We never read your inbox or existing emails.
Is there a sending limit?▼
MailTrail sends through your Gmail account, so Gmail's own limits apply. The extension includes throttling and a daily cap to help you stay within Google's limits. We do not add our own limits.
How does winner declaration work?▼
MailTrail tracks opens, clicks, and replies. You can declare a winner manually once you have enough responses, or let the dashboard surface the leading variant based on your chosen metric.
Can I use MailTrail with Google Workspace?▼
Yes. Any Google account or Google Workspace account can use MailTrail. Workspace admins may need to allowlist the extension or the OAuth client for their organization.
How do I uninstall or revoke access?▼
Right-click the MailTrail icon in Chrome and choose Remove extension. You can also revoke access from myaccount.google.com under Third-party apps with account access.
Security & compliance
MailTrail uses OAuth 2.0 with Google, row-level security in the database, and HMAC-signed tracking links. We only request the minimum scopes required to send your tests and associate them with your account. If you are a Google Workspace admin and need a security questionnaire or compliance documentation, email us at hello@experimently.ai.
